Everybody who know me knows Violet Chachki is my favorite drag queen of all.

At 22 years old, the Atlanta-native won Season 7 of RuPaul’s Drag Race by a landslide!

That was March of 2015.

Today Violet has elevated her platform above the Drag Race franchise to be a world class show girl of extraordinary talent.

To me, she is leagues above all the rest, with her aerial performances, fetish burlesque presentation and encyclopedic knowledge of high-fashion.

Violet is unabashedly sex-positive. She exudes an expensive style of self-confidence and poise and yet she can also be super silly when she’s with Gottmik on their hit YouTube show “No Gorge” - which is basically two snooty drag queens clowning around 👑

This summer I had two opportunities to see my diva perform in all her glory. One, an up-close club gig and the other, her epic drag-burlesque-acrobatic masterpiece, A Lot More Me.

The “No Gorge” Pride Tour:

Nothing makes me smile more than watching Violet Chachki and her drag-daughter, Gottmik (RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 13 finalist), clowning around on their tongue-in-cheek YouTube talk-show “No Gorge”.

I was over-the-moon when my favorite drag club of all, Troupe 429 in Norwalk, CT announced that Violet and Gottmik were doing a rare, up-close performance for the last day of Pride month.

I donned my best drag, bought 6 violet-colored roses for Violet and drove over 2 hours to see this once-in-a-lifetime show!

Meeting Violet and Gottmik was everything I wanted it to be.

Gottmik took one look at my make-up and said straight-up “Girl, you’re coming for my make-up gig!”.

A Goddess in Violet

Then I turned and looked up at Violet (she’s 6’1!) and gave her the roses I’d lovingly hauled all the way from Rhode Island.

I said to her in all sincerity as I presented them, “You are a Goddess to me”. (Because it’s true. Violet is the “Empress Card” in my Tarot Deck).

She was so gracious, looking down from her goddess high-heeled height, her smile to me beamed with happiness.

“OMG these are real!” she said as she took them from me. And her remark made me tingle with excitement.

I joked around with them for a minute or two - not wanting to overlook Gottmik - an icon herself - I turned to her and said,

”And you make Violet so very happy!”

(To a super-fan like me, it’s easy to spot Violet’s positive shift in disposition since teaming up with Gottmik! Are they really “together”? They’ve answered yes to that question twice).

Gottmik LOVED this remark and joked with Violet over it and I wanted those 2.5 meet & greet minutes to go on forever!

Of course I made new friends! I always do. Kasey and Dannie were great and we all stood together in the front row, just inches from the stage. A super-dooper-fan like me, Kasey also came baring tantalizing gifts for Violet & Gottmik. She out did me!

Because we were so close to Violet and Gottmik - they recognized us from the Meet & Greet and Violet interacted with me personally from the stage - dancing with me and asking me to tip her - then nodding my tips away is a playful, flirty manner. She knew she was my Goddess and she knew she has my heart 💜

Kasey, Dannie and I all still keep in touch with our drag adventures via Instagram.

A Lot More Me in Montréal

My next adventure in my “Violet Chachki Summer” was a trip to Montréal, Canada for the premiere of the Canadian leg of Violet’s “A Lot More Me” tour.

I haaaaaaaaad to see this show. I’d had tickets to the New York City “A Lot More Me” show, but Hurricane IDA rolled through town & kept me from going. Montréal is a place not too far away that I’d been wanting to check out - so another chance to see Violet’s show was the perfect reason to go.

And SHE DID NOT DISAPPOINT!

My drag-sister, Heruma Glamoure joined me on this adventure.

Obviously you can tell from the photos we didn’t have the best seats - but it did not matter! This show was fully enjoyable from start to finish, even for us, waaaay up in the balcony of the L’Olympia Theatre in Montréal.

Many of Violet’s performances are preserved on my YouTube channel:
