Kira Stone is a legend in Providence. She has a penetrating and passionate presence, escorting her audiences into a fiery emotional realm with her lip-syncs to Celine Dion, Melissa Etheridge, Taylor Swift and Amy Grant. Kira throws her full self into each song, leaving nothing behind. She could easily become the next great “lip-sync assassin”. In her weekly stand-up at her Tuesday gig with cohost Lili Whiteass, Kira gets dirty on the mic - recounting tales of fantastical sexual escapes and eating steak & cheese subs in lascivious detail.
And while its her perfected talent as a drag icon that draws fans to her week after week, performing isn’t Kira’s only gig. Every week for, what?, 7 years or so now? Kira has hosted two weekly drag nights in Providence that feature up & coming local talent. She has coached many fledgling queens through their first performances, cheered them on as they come into their own expression, guided them through sculpting a persona suiting their talent and launched them into drag careers of their own. In this way, Kira Stone is a beloved mentor to a multitude of newer queens in the Providence drag scene, even though she permits only a rare chosen few to call her “mother”.
Currently, Kira hosts two nights in Providence: Mondays at Freeplay Arcade and L2K Tuesdays at EGO with co-host, Lili Whiteass. L2K Tuesday is an open-stage, where anyone willing to put a drag look and performance together can put their name in a hat for one of the coveted fifteen performance slots that night.

L2K Night at EGO is a runaway success as more and more aspiring drag queens show up eager to show off their looks & talent to a devoted and familial crowd. Kira keeps strict rules: no touching without consent, no booing anyone, and cheer as loud as you can for everyone, whether it’s their first time on stage or their 30th - and of course TIP! The fans that come to Kira’s events week after week are as diverse as can be: all ages, all races and all variations of gender and sexual identity. There is air of openness and relaxed acceptance from the moment you enter the club until they shoo you out the door at closing.
Creating community, especially supportive community for young, queer people is a rare and treasurable jewel in this increasingly chaotic world. It is an act of prophetic generosity and spirit to offer young people, still wrestling with the burden of identity, a place where they can feel seen, celebrated and encouraged. Though she stuns audiences in her own right through her performances, Kira Stone shows not an ounce of real egotism. She reserves her sentiments for gushing over drag kings and queens whom she is witnessing come into their confidence and perhaps, for the first time, feel at home in the world. It is in this way that we all think of her as a Goddess. 💜
