Violet Chachki

I think if there is one "best drag queen ever" for me that queen is Violet Chachki (born June 13, 1992 in Atlanta, GA). Her drag career began with Atlanta's the Legendary Children drag performance group along with her drag mother, Dax Exclamationpoint and drag sister Brigitte Bidet.

Violet is best known for being the winner of RuPaul's Drag Race, Season 7 in 2015, at the age of 22. Since then she has perfected a unique blend of burlesque, aerial performance art, and high fashion drag to become, what I like to call, a one-queen Cirque-du-Soliel. Season 7 was only the second season (with the exception of Season 12, UK, Canada and Thailand) where I did not know who the winner was as I watched the show. This is because of me being late-to-the-drag-race-game and playing catch-up by absorbing press and media of all kinds, often revealing who a winner was before I'd seen their season. There is something about knowing who the winner is in advance of watching a season that makes it easy to "fade out" on the other contestants and only focus on the winner's rise to the crown. Yet even not knowing that Violet Chachki was headed all the way to the crown, she stood out in a significant way from the other queens on her season (and no one to scoff at, as both Trixie Mattel and Katya were on there, as well as Ginger Minj and Miss Fame) not simply for her racy looks but for her shear, almost ruthless self-confidence. Violet never doubted for a second that she was destined for the crown. Her rise to fame could be a study in implementing "the Secret" - believe it truly enough and it will be. I think this is what enamored me to Violet. This and her being from Atlanta and having once worked at the Fellini's Pizza on Ponce de Leon that I used to go to. I wonder if she ever hung out at MJQ or the Clermont Lounge....?

Violet's astrology chart reveals her Sun exactly conjunct Venus, both in Gemini and this is an extremely fortunate placement, awarding pleasure, prosperity and beauty. Gemini's are flirty, frisky types and Violet is known for being one of the more sexually open and unashamed amongst the queens, like her friend & season-mate, Katya Zamolochikova who likes to brag about her prostitution experiences, even in front of RuPaul and Michelle Visage!

Violet's Moon sign is harder to discern as the Moon moves through the zodiac at a high speed and without having her exact time of birth, I can only make an educated guess. Violet's Moon is either Scorpio or Sagittarius, depending on whether she was born before sunrise on June 13th or after. If she was born before, then it is possible she has a Moon conjunct Pluto in Scorpio, which would account for her fascination with a darker, more mysterious & alluring image. If she were born after, her Sagittarius Moon would account for her sometimes brash confidence and comfort being naked.

Violet has Mars at 29-degrees of Aries - an extremely strong yet somewhat volatile Mars as 29 is the "Anaretic degree" - the trigger point for a sign-change, and having planets on this point can point to instability and a tendency to change course suddenly & without notice. This Aries Mars (Mars rule Aries) is actually the falling on "The Cusp of Power" - which is the Aries-Taurus Cusp. Also of note is Mars in trine with Athena at 29-degrees of Sagittarius - pointing to visionary creative attributes with a nod towards the wild & unruly.

What I find interesting is that Violet has Mercury in Cancer, which indicates emotionality - something that as a viewer I do not see. Cancer's are adept at hiding and perhaps Violet has a "soft-side" she leaves off camera and off of the stage. It's important to note the twin-like nature of a Gemini, while there is the excitable, flirtatious ever curious twin, eventually the dark, broody twin comes out, often to the surprise & inconvenience of friends & flings.

Mercury in Cancer makes an exact sextile to disciplined, hard-working craftsman, Jupiter in Virgo - a placement that fosters the focus to affix hundreds of Swaroski stones on a garment along with the creative vision to know where to place them. Between them is Chiron in Leo, also at 7-degrees. Chiron in Leo indicates a wound around feeling special, somehow doubting one's own specialness. It makes me wonder if perhaps a deep sensitivity made young Jason Dardo feel less-than-special amongst his peers and thus he invented Violet and applied to her his full visionary perfectionism to create the very special someone he didn't feel inside himself.
