My Adventures with Astro-CartoGraphy

Astro-Cartography is a type of Astrology where the planets-arrangement in your Astrology birth chart is superimposed over the World-map to reveal connections you have to certain places.

These connections show up as lines spanning from North pole to South pole that represent each planet and that planet’s affinity for the significant angles of your Astrology birth chart.

For example, I first explored my astro-cartography while I was living in Atlanta, Georgia. My “Neptune-line” runs straight through the City of Atlanta, activating my Ascendant. Having been born and raised in Massachusetts, everybody thought it was very odd when I decided to attend Emory University in Atlanta when I was just 17 years old, but for me the decision was a no-brainer. Emory had a brand new Creative Writing department spearheaded by a popular writer and Atlanta was an up & coming city full of nightlife and culture and the promise of hosting the 1996 Olympic Games - which had just been announced. And it was in a warm climate - as a 17 year old Massachusetts resident, I was fully ready to ditch New England winters for good!

Neptune is a planet we associate with the dissolving of ego and mystical, other-worldly mind-states. While living there, I was a nightlife fanatic and got very involved in “rave culture” of the early & mid-90’s. Then, as I started to burn out on that some, I discovered yoga and began a deep-dive in Eastern philosophy and New-Age spirituality, culminating in me returning to Emory to receive a Masters of Divinity degree.

My Neptune line also hits, Pittsburgh, PA, Buffalo, NY and Destin, FL. - up into Canada and down into South America.

Then, circumstances lined up for me to move to Santa Fe, New Mexico - adjacent to my Jupiter line accessing my IC or “home-base”. I have Jupiter in Aquarius in my astrology birth-chart which represents opportunities in community. In Santa Fe, I lived in a Zen-meditation community and then just only about an hour north of Santa Fe, I lived in an off-grid spiritual community near Taos, New Mexico. Both of these experience were joyful and life-affirming for me.

My Jupiter line also goes straight through London, England - which is one of my very favorite cities in the world! For London, my Jupiter-line connects to my ascendent, putting opportunities directly in my path. I lived in London for a year as a college undergrad and have visited multiple times. Every time I’m in London I am having the time of my life - especially my most recent visit, which I will write about in my next post.
