The Boulet Brothers: High Queens of Dark & Dirty Drag

I discovered the Boulet Brothers and their whole Dragula franchise quite by accident. Newly obsessed with RPDR, on a whim I downloaded an app called DRAGR and quickly became addicted to the drag trivia quiz, playing it over & over & over seeing if I could improve my score. It was a perfect marriage, the more episodes of RPDR I binged, the better I scored - except - when the app would ask questions about the Boulet Brothers or Erika Klash or Frankie Doom....

A quick Google search revealed what I had been missing -the key to the seedy underbelly of the drag world - and to be honest - I slammed my laptop shut on Season 1, Episode 1 of Dragula - the Drag Competition Reality show that replaces "Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve & Talent" with "Horror, Filth & Glamour". The first extermination challenge was so creepy and gross I wasn't sure I had the nerve for this show. Yes the discovery that my borrowed Netflix account hosted Season 2, and my fast-fondness for the subterranean sexual tension between Biqtch Puddin & Abhora, quickly converted me into a feisty Dragula fanatic. All of a sudden, all those RPDR Queens were seeming a little less glossy and original and a lot more vanilla compared to what the darker side of drag has going on....

Outside of the mushrooming effect of Dragula on entertainment & drag culture, the Boulet's keep a low profile. They never release their legal names and claim they will never be seen in public without their drag character ornamentation - though you can see them in minimal drag right here:

It is just over a year since the release of Dragula Season 3 (ground-breaking, critically acclaimed and streaming on Netflix), and these days everyone is in-the-know about Dragula, as previous contestants gain increasing popularity on social media platforms. Fans are antsy for Season 4 to come out (especially restless quarantined drag fans!). To whet our appetite while we all anxiously await Season 4, The Boulet Brothers have just announced the release of Dragula Resurrection, a socially-distant competition special featuring some of the most loved queens of the prior three seasons of Dragula. Dragula Resurrection Streams October 20, 2020 on the Shudder Network (which offers a free 7-day free trial, y'all!).
